Chemong Lake is situated approximately 9 km north west of Peterborough up Chemong Rd. Chemong is also a part of the Kawartha lakes water system and the Trent-Severn Waterway.

Chemong Lake is part of a tri-lake water system consisting of Chemong Lake, Buckhorn Lake, and Pigeon Lake. The tri-lake area is host to several popular fishing tournaments throughout the open fishing season. The most common game fish in the lake are smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, walleye, yellow perch, Carp, Muskellunge as well as a number of Panfish.

There are a number of small islands on the lake, including Goat Island and Kelly Island. Most of the islands have cottages or are commonly used as impromptu campsites.

Chemong Lake is approximately 14 km (8.7 miles) long but only about 1 km (.6 mile)wide. It is home to the causeway which connects the one side of the lake to the other. The causeway leads to the town of Bridgenorth. Peterborough is only 10 minutes away from Chemong which makes it a popular lake to live full time as it is close to all conveniences.

It is a shallow lake with depths typically less than 20 ft (8.8 m).

There are 4 public boat launches as well as some marinas for your boating needs.
